Re: Powerslide S4 vs Imperial

My skates are built around a pair of very old Salomon liners which fit me like a glove. I've moved on to Seba Fr1s, twice with different versions, but the first thing I do on getting new skates is to replace the liners with the Salomons. So maybe you should stick with some liners you like. I would ...

Re: Roces ASP100 frame adjustment?

Bleedin' hell - I turn my back for 5 minutes & you've gone thru 3 lots of skates! What are you like?

I'd wager an extra large Rossi's (with flake) that if you tighten the cuff enough to stop any lateral ankle movement it'll fix the problem.

Re: Quad slalom setup?

Yo Inkmeister

probably a stupid question, but I seem to recollect that you like the cuff pretty loose - have you tried tightening the cuff fully? I'd have thunk that that's gonna stop any lateral movement in said extremity.

1. 'experimenting with a heelbrake.' Why has this not attracted comment? What has happened here in the last 2 years? Have you tried t-stopping down wet, mile long 1 in 6 Lakeland hills? With cattle grids? Don't, it's a bloody stupid idea... http://skateslakescakes.blogspot.co.uk/ but it's mine, &am...

Re: Skating flat is more fatiguing than skating with a rocke

Is it not purely down to rolling resistance. ie less surfaces in contact with the ground the better? I realise that you can't push as hard with less wheels - but surely the glide is easier. Plus, I guess that even though you can't push as hard/generate as much foward momentum, the push itself feels ...

Re: Seba High uk11 for sale - excellent condition

Oops! Sounds like someone's been practising crazy... Don't give up slalom just yet - you just need to get some nice easy moves under your belt & develop rubber legs before moving on to knee-destroying tricks like crazy. FR2s should be fine for slalom or freeskating though. VP @ Southport this we...

Health & safety gone...bloody stupid

Advice for once a year ice skaters from RoSPA: "If you fall, he recommends tucking your arms in and rolling - rather than putting you hand out to stop the fall, which could damage the hand or be hit by another skater's blades." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16318663 Great advice for pro...

Re: 2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad?

Ta for the replies. It's not a problem - I was just idly curious as to whether I actually rolled/coasted more quickly on 2/3 wheels. I know that once one starts actually pushing having more wheels is obviously an advantage; but rolling downhill, until the inevitable speed wobble kicks in, would less...

Sounds like it's not normal wear & tear to me. I'd try returning them - my 2009 Evos had a 2 year warranty! I assume it's still the same.

2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad?

While experimenting with a heel brake yesterday I used a flat 80mm set up for the first time in years...and it felt so slow! Not just non-manoeuvrable, which I'd have expected but really slow. Is this just an illusion, or is skating on 2/3 wheels actually faster? less friction etc.
