Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

It's not about donations. Vish has been very kind in hosting the site for a number of years. The problem is that there is hardly any traffic any more. No point having a forum around that's just rotting.

Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

Facebook is good to dip into. You can nose around when you get bored with no real commitment. There most be other things that people are doing. I can't imagine that facebook can use up huge amounts of time.

How much has skating declined?

Re: Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

Judging by the current popular web sites it seems that attention span is generally very short. Far less interest in having discussion and blurting out 140 characters of utter bollocks is the mode. I suppose either forums aren't cool any more or just skating ones. Red Locker appears to be going in a ...

Yes, it's time to turn the lights out

Traffic has reduces so much lately that describing it as a trickle would be an exaggeration. It was good while it lasted but no point in letting for forum limp on any longer. We've had some good discussions over the years and I'm certainly going to miss the glory days. The doors will stay open for a...

Be on your guard

On another forum I was sent a PM that appeared to come from admin (I even got an admin email) informing me that the site had detected attacks coming from my machine and to do a virus check by clicking on a link. I didn't, obviously, because it would have without doubt attempted to infect me with som...

Re: Domain name transfer

nameroute.com.

Melbourne IT are making things difficult. I've requested my transfer key three times now without a response from them. There doesn't seem to be a way of obtaining it through the control panel. Let's try contacting them again.

Domain name transfer

I'm about to transfer serpentineroad.com to a different company. It was shifted to an Australian company when the original company I registered with went tits up but Melbourne IT aren't cheap so I'm moving it. The DNS settings should remain the same but in case things go wrong then it's possible the...

Private parties forum

For those who were members of this forum it will not have escaped your attention that it is no more. It got very little activity and people were using Facebook for arranging social events - and does a far better job.

An anti-spam modification has been applied to the forum and I've re-enabled user registration. Let's see how long it takes spammers to get around it.

She is also posting from the same IP address as me so there is definitely something dodgy going on.

It's ok. Just wait a while and you will get the chance to abuse others. It's the way things work.

As it happens she can't leave. I have chained her to the computer. If she fails to post every 30 mins then the computer will explode.

Re: Account deletion

Firstly, I'll call you what i like. Fair enough. Secondly, learn to spell. Ok but remember that as admin I can edit anything and therefore correct my spelling mistakes and make you look stupid for suggesting there are any. Thirdly, saying horrible things about people will get you nowhere and only m...

Re: Account deletion

Firstly, Mr Stiv is a name for me that can really only be used by my local Indian takeaway so kindly discontinue using it. Some of the people who (and mostly no longer) occupy this forum do act like they have a right to demand a good service from a site they don't pay a penny for and throw a strop w...

If they asked nicely rather than being in a strop about something and were just trying to make a point then I would.

Forum access

The nameserver changes have been made so we are no longer redirecting traffic from Dan's server but sending it straight here via a DNS change. In order to login to the forum you may need to delete your serpentineroad.com cookie.
