Re: Seba frame bolts and axles OVERTIGHT SCANDAL!!!

A further dosing of WD40 and some elbow grease later. Result? Both bolts on the skate I tried won't budge. And the rear one is rounding off. Not the HIGH QUALITY allen key, but the LOW QUALITY, OVER-TORQUED and clearly WELDED IN crappy frame bolt! What a pile of $#&/! http://www.megaangryman.co...

Re: Seba frame bolts and axles OVERTIGHT SCANDAL!!!

I'd imagine the problem is more to do with the included tool being complete junk rather than the bolts being torqued too much. They are probably just threadlocked anyway. That's not to excuse Seba from including a junk tool though. You should be able to adjust the skates with the included tool. Inve...

Re: Rant...

It's not supposed to stop the cyclists - it's a shared use path. Just to slow them down. Works if you are riding something with high pressure skinny tyers. Works a little too well if you are on skates. I feel your pain :(

Re: Rant...

I think they want to slow the cyclists down and generally calm down an area which is, lets face it, an accident waiting to happen.

Re: Any feedback on Seba Storm bearings

Phil, I've heard you need to use angel tears to lubricate ceramic bearings. I can sell you some if you want - it's reassuringly expensive.

Re: Any feedback on Seba Storm bearings

Hah yeah you are right - it was interesting, in a nerdy way. The guys dragging themselves up the hill at le man would be interested to know that every six laps or so skated the friction in their bearings, whilst freespinning, could be costing them the energy output required to do 4.5m of that bloody...

Re: Any feedback on Seba Storm bearings

Do you have any evidence for this or is it just a opinion? Let's just calculate it whilst making up the most crucial variable: TFTFY. <trollface.gif /> In all seriousness though, I think you missed Dan's point - he didn't say freespinning wasn't important, rather, it's not the most desirable attrib...

Re: Dispose of bearings?

Depends on objective. If you want them to last longer a good dollop of lithium grease injected with a syringe will keep the crap out. Increases drag though. Light oil reduces drag but gets washed out.

Re: Dispose of bearings?

Ask your local council or equiv.

Does it make sense to buy good bearings? Yes. Does it make sense to spend time cleaning / servicing them? Probably not unless you can't afford to replace them.

Re: bearings ?

Abec is a standard that's irrelevant to the conditions that bearings experience when used in skating (and cycling for that matter). ILQ is a make. How well your bearings survive skating is a product of their manufacturing quality beyond the existing standards; most cartridge bearings are used in sea...

Re: Nomadeshop.com - sup with them?

Bought some new Seba skates from them at the end of March and was very impressed with the service. Skates arrived at our local post office within 48 hours. Only problem then was Parcelfarce lost the package and it took them another week to find it - long story but not the fault of nomadeshop. Exact...

Re: The development of future skates

Was the FSK cuff/lacing better and faster to do up? How so? Adequate foot hold and comfort whilst being durable and quicker and easier to lace up. I always thought the amount of faffing Seba High and GT skates required just to get them on ridiculous, but the impression seemed to be that was the pri...
