Anyone skating in Cambridge?

Moving to Cambridge for my new job in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone knows where the locals hang out?

Re: Skating forwards... check. Skating backwards...

with regards to the Lemon, i never really learnt to do this when i was skating forwards let along backwards. Would i be right (or way off) in thinking that when my legs are moving away from my body to be on my outside edges, then onto the inside edge when pulling them back in. or should i be on cen...

Re: Skatefresh Birthday Skate in Brighton. 8th August.

I'll probably be down at the west pier early (practicing for skatelondon, which is scaring the crap out of me!) and trying to keep an area free for us by fending off skateboarders.

Re: Powerslide FSK Hardcore Evo ?

I need an all round skate for street, inc marshaling, and general park tarting. Don't do much slalom but these might persuade me. I reckon they'll be fast in Berlin too. Prob not advisable for high-jumps mind... thoughts? Like I said in that review, I'd be worried about scuffing through the toe of ...

Re: Powerslide slalom skates

I have the Hardcore Evos, & love them, but I'm not an expert slalomer by any means - anyone had chance to compare these with the Skalis? Have you heat molded your evos? I need to tighten the grip on my heel and widen, slightly, around my little toe. There are instructions on the Powerslide webs...

Re: Powerslide slalom skates

So I *had* to buy the 10.5 (normally a 9.5-10 in other skates)

Re: Powerslide slalom skates

Club blue room has just started... please do not buy the last 7.5, 8 or 8.5 skate until i try them or I will kill you! Thanks for that. Thankfully my feet are bigger than those sizes & can rest easy that I'll make it to the weekend alive. They must be bigger than 9 or 9.5 too :) Ah. Crap. :?

Powerslide slalom skates

So I've been hearing good things about the Powerslide slalom skates and I just want to know:

1. Are these the Powerslide S3 Skali Pro?
2. Is there a shop in the UK selling them where I can try them on?

Thanks.

Re: Stopping/speed control on a downhill

Sounds like I've got to work on improving my T Stop, and start learning how to Powerslide I'll bet one of two things, probably both: 1. The foot you're dragging is close to the lead support skate 2. That after a (short) while that dragging foot swings round so you're almost standing in a wide stanc...

Re: Heelbrake for Seba FR1

Speak to David (skooby) in CBR. He does the modification to the Seba frame to fit a heel brake. You may need to trim the brake pad down a bit as I've seen some where it catches the ground during turns. Personally I put a Twister frame on the Seba boot to teach.

Re: Slalom Showdown Today! Monday - GO

Big thanks to everyone who organised this, especially Naomi, as it was great fun. I'd also like to thank JB for knocking me out in the first round so I didn't have to humiliate myself with a second run. I'm really impressed with how our skate community comes together for these events.

Re: Fr1 liner alternative?

I use Jug liners: unbelievably comfortable, great support, with the only downside that your feet might smell a bit at the end of the day (or at least that's how I interpret the sniffing on the train when I head home). I also don't use the heel pads that come with the FR1s with them.

Re: Calling all Brighton skaters

Count me in. Old Git and I have been talking about doing a Brighton skate for YONKS so would be great if we can get it together. I'm crap with routes though. Know a few good pubs however..... I can have a look at a route if people throw pub names at me; I'll try to work them in (maybe one in Hove, o...
