Re: Forgive me Father, for I have sinned...

Batman, thanks for the reply (y) ~10yrs seems about right to me (certainly for my eldest son), which would be around this time next year. I'll see how the youngest gets on betwen now and then, but he'll probably not be ready by then - although he's taken to skates really well and can jump up and dow...

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned...

...It's been many months since my last skate. I fell [again!!], cracked a couple of ribs and suffered from the sinful thought of being 'scared'. I did not know whether I was strong enough to return to the skates, but I had an epiphany and finally saw the light... For penance, I have spread the word ...

Re: Sunday Stroll 28th September - Ich bin kein Berline :-(

Great stroll, seemed faster than usual with not much stopping. Big crowd and lovely weather. Thank goodness for that!.....I thought I was able to keep up, but when the skate set off I thought "bloody hell, I'm in trouble". The clue for me was in the title - 'Stroll', but it was a bit quic...

Re: Sunday Stroll - August 10th - Take me to the riviera - GO

 I am gutted of Suffolk!! I messed up the timetables and just missed the train enough to watch it pull out of the station, so I'll miss doing my first Stroll. Will try better in two weeks time. <inconsolably goes off to watch Team GB throw away yet another medal opportunity>Boo hoo...

Re: Sunday Stroll - 3rd August - Down by the river

I have a free pass next Sunday and was hoping to come down to London for the Sunday Stroll, but I noticed that a lot of people were going to be at Goodwood. Does that mean there'll be no stroll, or will it just be a little smaller than usual? I hope it goes ahead as I desperately want to do the skat...

Re: Your roller blading opinion.

1. 2007 Twister II, 2 pairs of Hypnos which I hope to commute on. 2. Almost 1 year, although I've only just recovered from a torn tendon I got last July (while skating) :( 3. Laces - I can't tie them one handed, so have to make do without 4. Because it is the most fun thing I have done for a long ti...

Re: LFNS 25th Jan - A Dickens view of London

A small bit of history for you this Friday along this route. London Fire Brigade move out of their headquarters on Friday after 70 years there. Their two main buildings straddle Lambeth High St just before you turn down Back Prince Road. Hopefully there won't be any disruption from the move, but the...

...a totally fucked system that is so unbelievably biased towards the criminal that we might as well just pack our bags and go home. I totally agree and its one of the most frustrating things I found. Once, we had 4 burglars caught red-handed after some very clever and nifty work by a copper. They ...

It doesn't look like it :(

I'm off to Detroit next week, I'll try to bring a suitcase full of sunshine back from there (apparently it's very hot and very  sunny  at present).

A strange thing happened yesterday..

Very strange indeed. I got back on skates for the first time in three months (since I tore my knee ligament) and didn't crash or injure myself :P , wierd...... ;) Jeez, it felt so good to be back on skates! It's the first time my leg has felt anywhere near strong enough to risk. I was nervous as hel...

Decathlon don't tend to give you any of the stuff that comes in the box - maybe they have it out the back if you ask? I bought my Twisters from there and they gave me the brake seperately when I sad I'd buy the skates. The sales guy fitted them for me too, which was helpful. They don't come in a bo...

Anything in Detroit?

I'm going in Aug/Sept and I might be fit to skate by then. I'm planning to take my skates anyway if my knee has healed.

Has anyone skated there - what's it like?

My new Twisters are fab - I love 'em to bits and they really inspire me with confidence!! In your case, this is not a good thing going by the number and severity of stacks you report on here, right? He he - yeah, I've had a few stacks and a couple have hurt a lot. The latest (my knee) is still heal...

Crawley Roller Disco. 1984. God rest her soul. I used to go to a roller disco down that way. I think it was in Crawley - might have been the same one. Would've gone around 1984-85 too. I fell over as much then as I do now :? Mind you, I was only there for the chicks, not for the skating. Now it's f...

Thanks for that Mike. Question for you though... If you don't use a heelbrake, how then do you stop? Might there be a way that I can slow myself down without using my heelbrake constantly? Or is it that I should just be able to go down hills and stop at the appropriate point without fear of whatever...

This isn't really a hill though is it? No, I know it's only just got an incline, which was partly my point. Why was I finding it so hard on even these slight downhill gradients. I'm wondering how wide your scissor is? My feet being to wide has always been a bit of an issue for me. My instruc...
