Ice Skates: buying & Maintenance

I am thinking of buying some ice skates because I am size 12 and the last 2 times I went ice skating all of the size 12 skates we all completely blunt and barely usable. Where is a good place to buy ice skates and once you have them how do you keep them sharp? Is there somewhere you go for sharpenin...

Bones Red Bearing cleaning

If you are cleaning your bearings in some solvent (like Meths) will this damage the red rubber shield? Or is it okay to leave it on?

Bearings and wheels

Hi,

I am looking to get some bearings online - are Bones Reds Bearings any good? I know the manufacturer is more important than the Abec rating etc but I dont know any of the manufacturers.

Also where can I buy Matter wheels online?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Skating forwards... check. Skating backwards...

I am no expert on this, but I learnt to skate backward without ever looking backward and then I had to relearn this seperately. Try looking over one shoulder slightly when going backwards. This tends to automatically scissor your skates and might make it easier, or at least you will learn 2 skills i...

Re: Toe Toe - Front Wheels Wobbles

Here's an idea, not meaning to be overly rude, but: Why not try it again when you're not tired? Then *you* can tell *us* what it was. It wasn't like i was bone weary - i had only been skating for maybe 30 mins and I skated for another 3.5 hours after that. I am asking if there is any specific trick...

Toe Toe - Front Wheels Wobbles

I was doing some toe-toe skating this wknd for the second time ever and I was managing okay but after a while I was having trouble keeping the toe wheel on the foot which is in front from wobbling crazily (well that foot starting wobbling crazily - but because it was only one wheel on the ground the...

Re: CBBC Skate Nation - starts Saturday 18th July

Just wanted to add one more thing - after seeing the moonwalk on Skate Nation I managed to teach myself it and was mucking around in Greenwich Park doing it when one of the park's local skaters piped up: "someone's been watching Skate Nation!"...I think the show has quite a wide range of a...

Re: CBBC Skate Nation - starts Saturday 18th July

I just watched the previous 2 episodes which I had missed - this show really grows on you - I find the way the 2 presenters are forced to act a bit cringeworthy and making such a big deal out of 2 kids "going out" was enough to make me vomit - apart from that like all of the teams that are...
