Re: Practice, Improve, Skate Session [PISS] - Thurs 2nd May

If it's any help, I think this is a fantastic idea!
I just feel slightly heartbroken that I don't live near London anymore :'(

I'll just be a text-based emotional fluffer in the meantime.......

Re: North Wales

Yeah falling can be not so fun for some...but the more you try to avoid it, the more it tends to happen  I meant to say that being just a beginner isn't a bad thing :) most of the people on here probably wouldn't be shocked/surprised when they meet fresh blood...I mean skaters Do you wear p...

Re: Coming back from really bad injuries

Great advice guys. It would be a pity to stop all together. But the truth is it probably will depend on how well I heal, and why the dr's say. Court how high was the wall? And you weren't drunk and on skates by any chance?? Cheers. About 10ft and no I wasn't unfortunately, just drunk and stupid :mr...

Re: Coming back from really bad injuries

Wait for the injury site to heal and all swelling to go down first.... After that it's probably better to do something like gentle swimming or cycling to rebuild the connective tissue around the joint - that'll strengthen it. As to whether you'll be able to skate the same again? That depends from pe...

Re: Music to skate to

My current favourite is the karaoke (no words) version of "Human" by The Killers. Generally I go for trance dance music (why don't they make that stuff anymore?). They attempt to make it... I still like older playlists though... kamaya painters - endless wave - http://www.youtub...

Re: North Wales

Hi I'm up in Llandudno, however I am just a beginner. I am also inspired by the freestyle / slalom that I've seen on youtube etc. Shame really, i'd like to get in with a decent skating community :S Perhaps one can start with just two? Sounds good to me :) "Just" a beginner eh? Gotta start...

Re: Music to skate to

I don't mind Psytrance. Nothing says MOTIVATE! Like dark, dirty hippy drum music Yup. Also, some proper old-school Jungle works for that, too. *occasiosn me to trip down memory lane on youtube* absolute classics Origin Unknown - Valley Of The Shadows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSxuxAeW1Os Levit...

Re: Music to skate to

Interested in what metal you would listen to Courtainis? Dragonforce is too much, meshuggah is impossible to keep a rhythm to, in flames is the same pace but too samey. Nin too many slow songs. Hmm... must develop playlist If I want to do an endurance session I find the opposite to pumping music is...

Re: Music to skate to

Exactly. A classic staple for inappropriate music at leisure centre roller discos which saps the will to skate. They just don't get it. Like being at a nightclub and Michael Jackson - Earth Song comes on xD (Mit, this is not an attack on you by the way.....i think you misunderstood what i was askin...

Re: Music to skate to

Funky works. I'll pass on the metal though, speed or otherwise :) It's those straight, square rhythms which fail to engage for me, I need syncopation. I know others like that sort of thing to skate to though. To a certain extent I agree with Mit about it being a matter of musical taste, but I also ...

Re: Music to skate to

Something fast paced? Relaxing? Loud? Powerful? Yes. The only requirement is it's got to be dancey as far as I'm concerned, so decent beats and rhythms. Drum & Bass, House, RnB, Hip Hop, Grime, Garage, Latin and the like. Nice. I'm for a bit of DnB or hard dance :D Although sometimes speedmetal...

Re: Music to skate to

Most definately not....as most people have several tastes.

It was a curious question to see if people here have specific tastes in music whilst they are skating.

Something fast paced? Relaxing? Loud? Powerful?

I dunno, I didnt think it'd be this difficult to answer

Re: Review: Rollerblade Fusion 84

What used to help me on the ice with rubbing and friction? The germoline spray-skin stuff. Scholl party feet stuck around the inside of the boot (those clear chicken.breast type things that girls use for their shoes) Elastoplast dressing (or band aids but the stuff you cut yourself is cheaper and mo...
