Re: Why skate backwards?

I had this question come up in conversation recently too, so I guess it is a common source of puzzlement. At the time I was explaining how I had been practising my backwards skating when- "Backwards," they interrupted incredulously, "why would you want to skate backwards?" "...

Re: Skate park lessons in London?

but I'm now wondering if the perceived risk is greater than the actual risk. Of course if you're going to be trying to do inverts and loads of ambitious tricks that's going to be risky. But if you're more conservative - basically what you get is an awesome playpark with lots of interesting terrain ...

I think it's great excersise, it's outdoors away from the dreaded computer games, it's social (I hope), It's skillful, artistic, challenging, non gender dominated, relatively inexpensive, globally possible, it's a great buzz without the narcotics and if you get it wrong you don't just start tha...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

Ah, I wondered about that as they hardly move at all at the moment far less than any other skates I've had. Maybe I just need to loosen it a bit... Could be, but I think it's more likely that they are kinda locked down in the "slot down" position, and changing to one of the other three gi...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

I assume you mean the silver bits with a type of slot in them... Yep, that's them. Just undo the nut, take them out, turn them to the 90 degree orientation you want and pop them back in. It's a little fiddly getting them in the grooves (you'll see what I mean) but overall easy enough. Just make sur...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

The balance lining is a great fit and comfy from day one - I've only worn them twice so far but the first time was for 4 hours and the only complaint is that the top of the right cuff seems to be digging into my shin somehow. It feels sort of bruised after I've been using them and haven't figured o...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

There's no way that a 256mm foot should be wearing a UK size 9. Well, I am :) You may get away with it when you are wearing normal shoes but in terms of skate fit your foot will be swimming around in there. Not to say that you can't get away with it; liners and bootstraps will let you get away with...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

or take one size bigger. Exactly. Width makes a difference. So @sk8: Since you have narrow feet I'm sure you'll be fine with the Seba chart recommendations. With regards to break-in for the balance liner, the only problem I had was with the shell rubbing on my (probably freakishly proportioned) ank...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

Mine are 9.6cm and I regard them as slim. So then, what size Seba FR1 Deluxe do you wear? None. ;) I roll with customized Twister. Shell size 41 and FR-liners size 40 = 260mm (insole) and my feet are 265mm. 8) Do you think if your feet were a centimetre wider you would still be able to fit in them?

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

Mutleyx, Isn't it obvious? You simply have the wrong size. UK 9 = EU 43 = (Seba FR) 280mm (length of the insole) the inside length of the liner should be 285mm due to the bulge in the heel (and toe). Bottom line you have +2.9cm in the front. (y) I would really love to see a picture of your special ...

Re: Why skate backwards?

I have been practising backwards skating and my girl asked "Why skate backwards?" I saw a YouTube video a while back that had a nice take on this, saying that there are very few forms of human transport that can be performed backwards gracefully and with style, but skating is one of the e...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

I measured my feet at 256mm Wow. I find it weird that your feet measured @ 256mm fits a size uk9 seba perfectly. Are you sure u measure them correctly? http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/FitSkateSizing.html Yep, I'm sure. Tried some size UK8s today in London, FR2s as they had no FR1s in, but same shell...

Re: Seba Fr1 Deluxe sizing

I measured my feet at 256mm, which put me at a UK size 6 or 7 I think, according to Seba's guide. I wear size UK9 shoes and bought size UK9 Seba fr1 deluxe, after trying them in a shop, which fit me just fine. Admittedly I do have wide feet which has always been the limiting factor for my footwear, ...

Re: Seba, what bugs me!!

A year later and still I can not find a dealer in Europe that has the complete Seba range and generally all the complaints in this thread about how they run their business are still valid today. My experience with freeride skate shopping was almost the complete reverse. I didn't want Sebas as they ...

Where abouts in Sussex are you? I also drag the kids down to the GYSO rink in Shoreham fairly often and have done the occasio...
