Re: Which Ice Skates

That's good advice. I have tried a few pairs on and wasn't happy with any of them even though they were the "correct" size. They didn't have many others in my size just a couple of Reeboks and weren't getting any more in for a while.

Re: Teach me how to skate backward

Skating backwards is the easy bit - it's the transitions that are tricky. I can't seem to twist my leg/ankle enough. Asha et al just seem to seamlessly glide from forwards to backwards whereas I lurch about like a pinball often ending up going in a different direction to what I started the manoeuvre...

Re: Which Ice Skates

BTW, for reference, taking ice skating lessons is generally easier on figure / leisure skates as the blades have less of a curve so are easier to be smooth on, and the levels you progress through consist of figure moves. Thanks, yes it seems that a hockey skate would be more suited to an advanced/s...

Re: Which Ice Skates

Thanks everyone for your replies. From the few people I've spoken to and from the posts here it seems that Hockey skates are the way to go. I found a great video where a guy gives you drills on Ice to help your street skating and he wears hockey skates on the ice (and on the street) rather than figu...

Which Ice Skates

As it looks like another weekend's skating is going to be rained off I was thinking of getting a pair of Ice Skates and go Ice Skating instead. The reason I'm thinking of buying a pair is that: A) the hire skates are terrible B) I live about 20 mins away from an Ice rink so I'm sure they'll get plen...

Re: Skates for wide feet

Bebai's right. Take her advice. The guys at those shops are really helpful, they'll sort you out.

One other thing to mention is that the 'better' skates start from around £100+. When I bought my FR1 Deluxes they were about £250. Well worth the expense IMO.

Re: What makes a skate?

funny, i have tested the highs enough to say that your "fact" does not apply to me. a thread above or below this one also has a user with highs feeling like "slippers" after 10-40km skating That was me, but they weren't Highs they were FRD's. Whilst the liner has compressed a bi...

Re: What makes a skate?

As long as the skates are labelled Seba they are the best on the market to get. No need for any other brand. ;) @azumi - LOL! My brain hurts... ishackimagelx5.gif @Leonin - I recently (before Crimbo) purchased a pair of FR1 Deluxes which I found and still find to be slipper comfy and just a great a...

Re: Bladeville.com

I've bought a few things from them twice with no problems. I think I used PayPal both times but I don't have a PayPal account I just use the Pay without registering option and enter my card details.

@Bebai - Great news! I'm glad they finally arrived. (y) I thought your comments were generous towards BuyChina and their customer service but at least you're happy. They do look great for the money, will you let us know what they're like on the road? @Azumi - Are you sure you want to see photos of t...
