Re: Newbie witha question!

I know where you're coming from with the benefits thing, but you do need to spend as much on skates as you can afford. I personally wouldn't put on a pair of skates without putting on at least knee & wrist-pads, they're the first thing to hit the ground when you go over - and you will go over - ...

Re: Newbie witha question!

Hi & welcome to the forums To be honest I wouldn't recommend either of those skates. I don't want to sound elitist, but you're unlikely to get a decent pair of skates for less than £100. Again I don't want to sound snobby, but have a think about what you have to pay for decent sports kit in gen...

Re: RIP Krissi - Meeting tonight for memorial

Very very sad news, and a stark reminder to us all of how fragile and precious life is.

Obviously I cannot be there, but my thoughts are with krissi, her family, and will be with you guys as you go out tonight to pay your respects.

Re: Considering opening a new roller rink - advice and info requ

So...where is this rink planned to be? Cambridgeshire area There used to be a race held in Camborne - and from what I remember there was quite a few skaters in the area who organised events in teh village hall - might be worth your while checking out (although the last race I remember was about 5 y...

Re: Skating in Nice and Monaco

Nice is not a problem - there is a skate/cycle lane along the sea front - as Phil said it runs from the town centre to the airport (about 4 or 5 miles). If you land at Nice, (and you're not on x's) get the train, it's direct to the town centre, cheaper & faster than taxi. The only bit of Monaco ...

The DR100 is the frame. It is the frame that went on the X-TR Wave range of skates. The actual skate model is usually badged on the powerstrap

Re: Skates as hand luggage

I've always put skates in the hold baggage. Apart from the 25 mile hike from check-in to Gate 873 (or whichever god-forsaken outpost the plane happens to be parked) there are relativly few opportunities to skate anyway!

Re: World Freestyle Skating Federation?

Having a pop at the Yanks is like shooting fish in a barrel. I found the site some time ago, and it doesn't seen to have developed much since I first registered. I find their concept that the World (that most Americans know it) ends just outside New York Harbor quite laughable, however in this case ...

Re: What skates are best for slalom?

Acid got some aggressive liners for a pair of his FSK's last year - he got them from a store in Derby (which is obviously no use to you!)

Try CBR, or any of the usual London outlets

Re: Hull girl needs help!

I've not been around for a while - Your best bet is to try the Anti-Gravity Shop in York or Leeds. Decathlon (the store) is in Sheffield, but when I was last there (2006), they hardly had any skates (decent or otherwise). Doncaster - I haven't been there for years, so I have no idea what they have i...

Re: A Physical Rear Marshal - Without Prejudice

But he said right at the start that he was too chicken to take the matter up with the marshal concerned, (so was he trying to use SR.com to rally a bit of support???   ). Anyway, this way lots more of us can stick our noses and generally shout 'fight! fight! fight!' when otherwise it...

what you really should be saying is 'what? you didnt want to compain discretely, so you decided to bad mouth the LFNS rear marshalls on the open public forum, where only a lynch-mob will be the result?' Re: Southport man prosecuted for rollerblading

Isn't this the same guy who had actually knocked people over whilst skating? I seem to remember reading an article about someone that had actually knocked over at least one person and had scared lots of others by skating too close to them. I think there was a report of him knocking someone over - b...
