Re: GOODWOOD IS BACK ON!!!

Anyone know if this is still on? There's been no news for ages so starting to think it's not. Could do with a chillax day at Goodwood. If on, anyone know if there is an ice cream van?

Re: Skate events/places in the UK (for a magazine in China)

There are quite a few roller discos about. Some are permanent (daily) Colchester, Derby, Welwyn Garden City and there is another one in Lincolnshire I have been to. Others are weekly, like Renaisance Rooms, Wembley, if it's still going. There are loads of clubs around the country, most either aimed ...

Re: Waitrose Belgravia - Sunday Strollers Please Read!

After may be too late as a bundle of people may have gone on the way back to the park if we come back that way. Half time would be a good time. Or don't mention it as that might cause extra traffic but have a marshal or two break off early with some small printouts standing outside Waitrose to infor...

Welcome to the forum. Where are you based? There might be some others in your area that don't know about your sports hall that could help you keep the costs down.

Re: 100 Miles attempt 1 help needed!!

Is there one there too. I am familiar with the one in Somerset. No I haven't and wouldn't skate it. There are some wicked hills in the Matlock area and one near Biggin Hill nearly melted the brakes on my bike a few years ago.

Re: Le Mans 2012

Oh and for next year, to solve all this pit garage mess up, should we prefix all British team names with "GB" next year? UK - that way we'll all end up in the higher numbers pits which seem easier for the hill to me. Also end up being close to the Solos and Duos if we have any next year w...

Re: MPC Wheel Failures

Plenty of people have had similar problems with wheels from different manufacturers with then coming off the hubs. It's generally a bad batch rather than bad wheels as seems to be the case here. The manufacturers are doing the right thing with a product recall. Thanks for raising the awareness of th...

Bag lost outside Vic on Wed 20th June

Somebody moved my Bont courier bag from outside the Vic tonight. Hopefully it's just an accident. It contains my shoes, softball glove and my work laptop. If you know of its whereabouts please contact me either on here or by PM or txt if you know my number. Or Facebook message me "Rick Johnson&...

Re: I've been hurt before - Should I start using protection?

I do wish that I wore kneepads whenever I skate or am in my warehouse or desk (this is no joke, I knock my knees on my desk & stepladders continually and it really hurts) but I'm too lazy to wear them all the time, and find them annoying. They're certainly not restrictive, and they're also not u...

Re: How many pairs????

Down to 11 pairs Speed Skates - Main pair that I am working on, replacement pair I am breaking in so I will always have a pair of comfy skates. Endurance setup on one (light frames, 100mm wheels) full speed on the others 110s. Short wheelbase pair of old customs that won't fit anyone else so I eithe...

You could try contacting South Woodham Ferrers Roller Speed Club as they are pretty close to you and could have some useful information on public training areas.

Re: 'Effin BLISTERS! What to do?!

I think I got blisters there on one of my feet in my FR1s. Liners/footbeds break in after a few weeks. After that they were like a pair of slippers. It seems to be pretty common with all Seba skates that you have to earn their long term comfort.

Re: Le Mans 2012

Changeover in Paris is not difficult, just not as easy as changing platform. It's a single metro train between Gare du Nord and Gare Montparnasse. Done it a few times plan it so you know what direction you are heading on which line. Have some euro coins for the ticket machine. Keep a few for the tra...

Re: Stopping technique for confined space

The trick to not wearing your wheels down is to look where you are going and not at the road or your feet. You can then anticipate the need to stop and have the space to do it. Sudden stops for the pack are rare. Once you have the space you can use whatever stopping technique you feel comfortable wi...

Sounds like fun. Haven't done a London streets all-nighter since the last Jubilee in 2002. I might not have my hamstring working by then, but if I do then I'll come along.

Interesting proposition... Depends how big the tank bag is on my bike. I'll find out when my bike comes back from the dealer later this week :)

Looks like Quentin and Emily are up for a ride.
