sorry to drag up such an old topic, but the details of the Melbourne skate has changed, the new website is http://www.cityskate.getoutmore.com.au or simply http://www.cityskate.org.au should work
Meet up at 9pm every Wednesday night, usually get up to 10 skaters, around 15 on a good night.
Adventure skates run every Tuesday fortnight, meeting at 7pm.

That's about it from my small part of the world!!

This is the kind of site I'd like to see updated for Europe. Has anyone from here been using it?

The NottinghamSkaters Wednesday Night Skate

When? 7:45pm for a 8:00pm start, every Wednesday during the "summer" (April - November).

Where? Meet in the new Old Market Square, (south side, opposite the tram stop), Nottingham city centre.

What? 2 hour street skate along Nottingham's smoothest streets and cycle paths.

See the NSWNS page on the NottinghamSkaters website.

Anything in Detroit?

I'm going in Aug/Sept and I might be fit to skate by then. I'm planning to take my skates anyway if my knee has healed.

Has anyone skated there - what's it like?

This is going to work like the birthday thread. post: the City and countrycode, the start time/day, the numbers of people [max/min], and a web link if possible. a mod will add them to the list below.

About time the "mod" added them to the list ;)

In sydney (as well as the wednesday and friday evening skates) a smallish group of us meet up for Slalom and freestyle practise in Hyde Park on Sunday, 2pm onwards. there's also the option to go and skate around the city if you feel so inclined. The surface is great for slides which don't screw your wheels up.

alansd wrote:There are a few in Washington DC over the week. I went out with them a couple of months ago on a wednesday night and it was pretty good. Not as many people as in london maybe up to 50 in the summer they said.
One problem though, a lot of lycra was on display.........

Hi there,

Can anyone help me?
I will be in the US in late July - early August and I was seriously thinking about doing a couple of the skates in Washington DC
I was thinking maybe the Friday and the Sunday but my main concern is that I can keep up with the pack...
In London, I can do the Sunday skate easily and the Wednesday skates are doable...I can do the Friday as well but with a lot of huffing and puffing...
Question is would I be able to do the Friday one and the Sunday Intermediate in Washington? Also, what is the Wednesday like???

I will be staying in Virginia Beach mainly but I will be spending a long weekend in DC...
Thanks.

A recent traveller's perspective on skating in Los Angeles/Santa Monica...

Tuesdays: Typically Downtown LA ,8pm, starts at 2nd and San Pedro - Orgainsed by Jenni - great chance to see Downtown/staples centre and usually involves one or more "parking structures". Like a group of naughty kids. Followed by a beer + sausage. Take a 1/4 for the fenicular railway trip!

http://mail.beachskaters.com/mailman/li ... katers.com / You can reach the person managing the list at tns-owner@beachskaters.com

Fridays: Typically at the cannons at the entrance to Santa Monica pier ( the one with the funfair ) at 9pm. Good route and fantastic finish sprint back to the oceam. Even has music if Lam thinks there are more than 10 people. ( Park for free at the city hall parking meters )

Indoor: Glendale Moonlight Rollerway. You can see "rexing" if you get the right people in. Dont be tempted to do the "go backwards for a track" on Tuesday nights when Dominic plays his organ (!) it goes on for a murderous pace for a good 20 minutes - you do get dizzy.

Disco: World on Wheels / Space disco: You may see Riley ( DJess ) on the Friday Santa Monica skates.

Practice: The Rosebowl Pasadena = 2.? mile track made for skate practise

Depending on whether you were interested in getting told off by security guards or serious practise - I can give you a few contacts - PM me if it would help.

I'm just back in the UK to get a visa - and have just been given some plates and screws in my fractured cheek bone ( mountain biking is good in SoCal too ) so I'm skating a tad less than I did!

Hi Anabri

Do you have the web site details so it can be added to the first post?

---

On another note could a Mod update the first post to include the LFNS and Sunday Stroll?
