Usually people just honk at you, but since we move faster then traffic most of the time (other wise we'll be skitching) we aren't really bothered very much. But in the post 9.11 days a lot of places are now off limits to skaters. We use to skate through Grand Central terminals, but now that they have added soilders with automatic rifles, it kinda put a damper on things.

In Paris, the pavement is generally smoother than the road, so pavement it is. But the sidewalks can be crowded, especially daytime and week-ends, and pedestrians' behavior can be more erratic than cars', so you can't go as fast. Bus lines can be a good compromise...

Though being anywhere on 8 wheels or more you should feel pretty safe
