Seba Igor setup

Postby ksiazekarol on Wed Jul 07, 2010 2:13 pm

Hi,
I've receive my Igor's about 2 weeks ago, they are very good but i still can't get a nice setup for my foot.

The size is good, but I've much space in toe area, also heel buckle is to big, I always get to max of it.

First I've tried with adding the inner soles it helped(I've less space in toe area of the boot), but still heel buckle is going to it maximum, I think of stick some polyurethane foam under heel buckle like in new powerslides hardcore evo.

When I added another inner sole I remove heel dampeners, I think it's better without it for doing heel tricks like seven and no viper.

What do You think about those thoughts? Have You got a similar experience with Igor's.

I had the same problem with the Seba Carbon: much too wide at the toe/front part of the foot, impossible to have a tight fit, foot moving in the boot. I must say I have relatively long/narrow feet.

I tried a lot of tricks but none really worked and none provided me the perfect fit of my old Seba High first version (2006, most people complained that these boots were too narrow but they are perfect for my feet).

You probably won't like the solution I choose: I went back to my old Seba High 1st version after some renovation = new inner boot (available from Seba for a very low price) + new heel strap and sold my new Seba Carbon !

The KSJ is considerably narrower at the toe area, I compared it side by side with my Igors (they fit me fine, btw) in SF... Just in case you'd like to know ;)

Aren't these semi-custom, means you can heat them and adjust their shape to your foot? I know HC Evos are, and iGors are similar in construction and materials.

No, they're not, at least not to my knowledge... But they felt great right out of the box anyway.

As Cowry says, mine felt great out of the box but I have quite wide feet. I normally take a size 10.5 but ended up with a size 9 (J&R sports did not have any 9.5 in stock), this still gave enough room in the toe. I have since tried using my High's but noticed a big difference in (for want of a better word) precision and feel.

I only lace mine to the third from top eyes and this keeps my heel firmly in place.

Oh, I also use some velco strips to protect thing like the nose, inside boot edge and areas of the frame I tend to bash.

Makes you wonder why SEBA didn't put bumpers on both sides of boot in the first place, it worked well for Salos.

+1,000,000

I'd buy a pair tomorrow if they had them on both sides. Until then it's Powerslides for me.

Two of my local slalom friends have Powerslide Evo and I was tempted by them. A couple of things put me off, the low position of the middle strap ratchets and the narrow fit (I have broad feet). Lovely skates though and I believe the ratchets have been moved more on top of the foot now with the newer version. As for the (lack off) bumpers on the inside edge of the boot, yup that was a concern but industrial strength Velcro strips sorted that
