Are we playing spot-the-difference?

A Roces skate without a memory buckle?

Yeah, it's so bvious rip-off that most people don't believe their eyes. It looks shopped but it's in Roces 2010 catalogue. So even if fake, final product shouldn't look much different. Even if they change skin and colour, it'll still look like copy of Seba. Better photo:

How embarrassing for Roces, to have to make a blatant rip off of Sebas ... well that confirms Sebas superiority, no?

I guess that would depend on whether they've actually improved on the Sebas, which imitation or not is nonetheless possible.

I see they've replicated one big mistake - the top buckle ratchet on the inside of each boot still has the potential to snag the carry-loop at the calf of the boot on the other foot. If you've ever caught your skates together like that at speed you'll know that's a f*cking killer of a design flaw.

@lurch

I dunno how the insole of the Seba high are, hope better than FR-series. So it probably depends. Aren't all skate buckles constructed this way? I mean, you could change the buckle by turn it 'one-eighty'. But wearing a pants will do the trick as well.

I find wearing pants helpful in all sorts of situations.

LOL. True.

Yes wearing long legged trousers does cover the buckles and is one way to stop the problem. In summer if wearing shorts I tuck the carry-loops into the back of the boot cuff.

No, not all skates have this problem. Examples - there are heaps. Ironically IIRC the Roces ASP100 is a good example of doing it right, though I can't find a pic on the internet showing that side of the boot cuff!

You try doing a marathon in summer in trousers. Like Lurch i tuck mine in though they don't always stay tucked in

I disagree. Physical pleasure while pants on is no fun. :P

Oh I never wear shorts.

Seba carry loops aren't a problem for long. They are so weakly attached that they come off without even trying. Well they did off my FR1s sft about 3 weeks just putting them on.

Wow. That's such a blatent copy it isn't even funny. I guess Roces have no shame in admitting that they are basically copying the Seba High, as they haven't even tried to make it look different, not even slightly. I don't know how I would ever buy a pair of these and still sleep at night.

So it looks like Roces are making a carbon slalom skate, and there are rumours about a new light weight aggressive skate from Valo. Coincidence?
Maybe they are going to put a soul plate on these, like Alchemy did with their FR1 clones.
