Some people tried skating the other way around on the Sunday morning and they said overall it was just as bad.

Yep. Worse in fact, as at least the windy section is a perfectly straight line. Head down, get on with it. When going the wrong way, it twists and turns on the way back up.

Or maybe be allowed to have a handful of tents put up at the track side so we can all squeeze in and snuggle up warm when we have short breaks? And maybe a few gazebos if sunny (shade)

Just alongside say where the shelterbox tent was, or right at trackside, if they let us?

Didnt quite keep track of the laps that I have done, but I reckon it is about 50ish laps.
The food in Dakota Diner was great.

And I know Maurice did about 62 laps.
He is not on the forum, so hope this helps.

Thanks guys! All the feedback is really useful, Skaiti 2010 really was a leap in the dark I can't believe I thought the track was going to be crowded with 250 skaters on it! If Dunsfold will have us again, we'll certainly take all your comments on board and do even better next time. Fingers crossed!
Glad you all had a good time! Jo xx

I forgot to say before, but thanks for the great day this year!

It was all really nice and uncomplicated, it was just brilliant (y) to be able to more-or-less just pitch up and skate with friends and boarders and roller derby-ers and whoever else, just as fast or slow as we fancied ( or sit and eat burgers  ).

I guess I'd say the same as others in terms of warmer weather and trackside shelter (also makes it more viable for family to come along... ). Though with more skaters and spectators more loo facilities might be needed...

I'm not sure if a/some races/competitions to give a focus would be a good idea or not... some focus might be good, but it was also nice to just to have the freedom to do what we liked when we liked!

Hmmm Maybe just some music or something...

Dakota diner coffee was my morning saviour, so nice to get something warm! (plus our disposable BBQ bacon sarnies nom nom)

Just a quick Skaiti update - the total to date is now £15,247.33 which is enough to pay for 31 Shelterboxes. I received a letter from Shelterbox yesterday to say that another four of our boxes have now gone off to Haiti. If you've been collecting cash using one of the paper sponsorship forms please get the money in to JustGiving as soon as you can. I'm still updating the individual totals on the website, just for interest the total mileage we covered stands at 7,608 from 155 skaters' individual reports so far.
Thank you! Jo xx

We got more than Dunsfold to Haiti? That's great!

Just a quick update on how we did. The total raised is now at £16,943.83 which after the Giftaid should mean more than £20k for Shelterbox. Thanks again! Jo xx
