Le Mans 2012

Postby Torbaydos » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:04 am

What are people doing this year?

Other than LSST, so far I've heard the Saturday Skate have got a team, Mit has registered a team and the maelstrom of strop that is the Misfits are looking to set up a team again.

Anyone else - Skatefresh? Nottingham?

May already be excited!

JasonBob is organising a University of Nottingham team to compete in the Student category. At the moment, I think there's only two others (Pete and Hannah) who want to go, but need a team.

I'm really excited... this will be the second year in a row I get to NOT do Le Mans, and LOVE every minute of it!

No stupid long journeys... no moody skaters complaining I haven't provided them with coffee (when they have been given bacon, eggs, toast and jam).... no 3am mega strops... no sorting out pizzas for 30 because everyone else is too lazy to organise themselves! No Road rash, nappy rash or Limoncello rash!!!

I bloody LOVE not going to Le Mans! (And you can get a seat in the Vic! LOL)

I shall miss another year without Gumbie egg & brioche morning sandwich.
Though a week at Chantelope will be lovely

Last year I spent literally 20 minutes walking up and down the spirits aisle in the Le Mans Carrefour looking for the bloody Limoncello but to no avail. What has the world come to.

Was it your first or second year that you got so drunk you failed to make the race? ;)

First year (2006), but I wasn't drunk and I did make the race. Well, one lap, anyway. I was hungover, starving and then gave myself heat stroke trying to sprint up that bloody hill in the heat.

Nati was talking about putting together a female Enduro team before Christmas, but I think work pressure means she can't do the orgnanisation which is a shame.

Nutty Nati!

I assume she's not too busy to do it if someone else organises it? :-)

Yeah I entered a team into the student category. We're down as "Nottingham University". It's a bit rubbish this year that they are allocating pit boxes based entirely on team name as it was really good to be with the rest of you last year.

I also have 2 slots available. We are allowed a few guests from other universities so if there are any other students out there who can skate and want to go then get in touch with me.

Jason - Looking at the site it says you have until June 15th to change the name of your team. Is there anything stopping you changing the name to "London Nottingham University"?

No, in order to be eligible for the student category we have to have our team name as the name of the university. Why have they decided on change? it was better before

LSST have now registered their teams :)

Now it is time to start organising the equipment van too. It will probably be very similar to last year - Central London pick-up on the Thursday night with St Pancras drop-off (meeting the Eurostar) on the Monday night. Details are still being worked on but we thought we'd let you know we were hoping to do this as it may affect some of your travel plans.

For the benefit of other teams, what team names were selected? Important because (for those who didn't realize yet) teams are allocated to pit boxes based on their alphabetical name ordering this year.
