LondonSkate 2012: Weds 18th April: Camden

Postby Stevie B » Mon Apr 16, 2012 9:55 am

Yes yes yes skate fans its that time of year again. LondonSkate 2012 kicks of with, as is traditional our Camden route.

Expect all the usual ruckass as we ease ourselves into what is I think our 12th season.

Marshals bring your vests, skaters prepare to fill your lungs and really make some noise.

Assemble opposite the bandstand, Serpentine Rd Hyde park for 745 safety brief for 8pm departure.

The streets are waiting.

That's because you couldn't see the hole in your Lycra shorts... Hopefully you've got new ones this year!?

I can see a small patch of blue sky looking out of my window..... I'm sure it's to the East, which is good since I'm West of London ;)

Roads are not looking dry in West End.

Just checked the traffic cams for Piccadilly and Oxford Circus and looking pretty wet.

Usually I'd remind everyone that talking about the weather on a LondonSkate thread is verboten

However, there's square-root-of-zero more interesting discussion going on anywhere on the board right now, so thanks for making the effort at least

I reckon the Marshals should adopt the Pari Roller's view of making the call :

Une seule solution, être au départ à 22h (OK, 20h for us). L'annulation est prononcée par les organisateurs en cas de pluie uniquement.
Cette décision n'est prise qu'au tout dernier moment ......
Inutile donc, d'essayer d'entrer en contact avec l'association par d'autres moyens, la situation pouvant évoluer jusqu’à la toute dernière minute.

Is it a Go or No Show.

Need to know soon as I'm about to get on the M3 from Basingstoke.

My GCSE French is kind of rusty, but if I've understood that correctly, it's what they do already
Traditionally the LondonSkate does not make an On or Off call until the last minute but [...] we have come up with the traffic light system. This is to help you make that call to skate yourselves when the skies are looking unhappy

I'm going to have to cancel now I'm afraid as the call is to late for me to drive straight there.

I'll marshal next week instead.

Cheers.

Not only do you not talk about the unmentionable in a LondonSkate thread, you also do not ask us this early if its a Go or No even if there is a blizzard out there.

Shame on you! hehe :P

But seriously, Skater N, do you have to drive more then 2.5 hrs to get to the skate?
