After a few year's away from regular skating, I'm hoping that there are some better rainfall radar / rain forecasting web options than the ones I know about!
I used to use this:http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/
which has 6 hours of history, and I found easy to read, even on a smartphone - but I see it's about to be discontinued :-(
The new version is this:http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observations/?tab=map&map=Rainfall
which has 3 hours of history, is more rich on a monitor, but I find a bit awkward/less clear on my smartphone
and on a separate page they have this:http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/?tab=map&map=Rainfall
which goes about a day and a half ahead, which seems useful for getting a general idea of the weather pattern, but (based on a week's sample), not effectively accurate for the "will london streets have rain" more than an hour or two out. This week I've found that looking at the history and guessing has been more effective for 3-4 hours out.
I realise that weather prediction is a very complicated science, so this may well be the best data/predictions available. Can anyone recommend any other sites, maybe with more than 3 hours history? We often need to make a call quite early in the day to give ourselves time to get the family sorted out and drive in from down South!
