Skating in Prague (or Czech Republic in general)

Postby Mentally Dull » Wed Jun 23, 2004 10:09 am

I've been to Prague for an interview yesterday, and saw several skaters around (I also saw plenty of cobbles and some nice downhill). Is there anyone on this forum who can give me an idea of how big skating is in Prague and/or the Czech Republic? Thanks! :)

Well I'll ask my Prague colleague who's in our London office atm.
He mentionned a 50km+ trail that goes by several pubs, just outside the city.

Update:
The "trail" is not exactly in Prague, but starts from the town of Nova Pec (southern Bohemia), near the Austrian border. It's by a lake and is very "picturesque" with (little) mountains nearby.
More interestingly, it's got 17km of newly-laid tarmac, all flat. But beyond the new stuff lies about 100km of skateable paths... hmmmm... (and at 50p a pint of beer, that's a skating trip waiting to happen methinks). :P

I thought all the skaters that were there are now over here judging by the number of 'Czech-or-Slovakians' (c) Gummidge in the Vic these days.
