Dispose of bearings?

Postby azumi » Fri May 04, 2012 6:10 pm

Can I dispose bearings in the household garbage?

Does it make even sense to by good bearings in order to clean and relubricate them?

Ask your local council or equiv.

Does it make sense to buy good bearings? Yes. Does it make sense to spend time cleaning / servicing them? Probably not unless you can't afford to replace them.

I've heard that some relubricate their bearings with ripe oil. I assume it's best for the environment. :)

Depends on objective. If you want them to last longer a good dollop of lithium grease injected with a syringe will keep the crap out. Increases drag though. Light oil reduces drag but gets washed out.
